| Carbon Neutral |
The ABA conference has partnered with carbonneutral.com.au to plant trees to offset the carbon emissions emanating from the conference.
CarbonNeutral provides an easy to use calculator to assess carbon emissions from energy use in business, residential and transport environments. Planting trees helps to combat greenhouse gas emissions, as trees absorb and store carbon dioxide during their lifetime. Trees also help to combat salinity, reduce soil erosion, release oxygen, clean underground water systems and provide habitat for wildlife.
This is a long-term commitment and it is important to start today: it can take around six trees to absorb one tonne of CO2, or up to 100 years to neutralise the emissions we create today. Our current carbon dioxide emission levels are causing global warming and we can all contribute to some extent in reducing and reversing this unsustainable trend.

| Nielsen BookData 2008 Booksellers Choice Award |
The Nielsen BookData Booksellers Choice Award recognises the book that booksellers most enjoyed reading or hand-selling during the previous year. This is a special award, because it is decided by the people who care enough to personally recommend and put a book in the hands of the reading public. This award is the only genuine reflection of booksellers' preferences and is proudly supported on the membership's behalf by Nielsen BookData and the ABA. The generous prize from Nielsen BookData is presented to the winning author at the Annual Booksellers Dinner. Booksellers are congratulated on their excellent choices since the Award's inception in 1994, shown here.
